Teaching Staff Rose Conway Flanagan Rose Conway Flanagan is another Bronx fiddle player whose formative influences included Martin Mulvihill, Martin Wynne and her old brother Brian Conway. Their house in the Morris Park section was a haven for fiddle players who perpetuated the Sligo style in New York like Paddy Reynolds, Andy McGann and Martin Wynne. Rose was an original member of the Cherish the Ladies Ensemble representing the predominant rise of young women in the New York Irish music scene in the 1980s. She currently has a large fiddle school in Rockland County at her home in Pearl River where she is hard at work preparing the next generation of great fiddle players including her own daughter Maeve, an All-Ireland Champion. In her spare time she manages to play in a great Ceili Band in the NY/NJ area called the Green Gates Ceili Band. |
